Demi Lovato is singing the US national anthem at McGregor/Mayweather- and she's rooting for Conor
JUST WHEN YOU thought Conor McGregor’s bout against Floyd Mayweather couldn’t get any glitzier, it has been confirmed that Demi Lovato will sing the US national anthem at the fight on Saturday night.
Mayweather Promotions confirmed the news earlier this evening.
“Singer-songwriter Demi Lovato will sing the National Anthem prior to the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor main event Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas,” the press release read. “Lovato is a GRAMMY-nominated artist with one of the world’s most powerful voices on-and-off the stage and will be singing the anthem at a boxing event for the first time in her career.”
On the surface, it might seem like a weird pairing, but Demi Lovato is actually a die-hard UFC fan and has even been known to livetweet McGregor’s fights. (She even trains in an MMA gym in Los Angeles and has dated fighters in the past.)
Back in July, she revealed that she’s rooting for Conor. The singer told TMZ that she was predicting a McGregor upset.
She also stated that she was rooting for McGregor in part because it would be a victory for her beloved UFC.
Not a bad person to have in your corner, eh?
